Biography

I am currently an assistant professor at KFUPM, Saudi Arabia. Prior to that, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Wireless Communications, University of Oulu, Finland (2018-2023). I received the B.Sc. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Tripoli, Libya, in 2004, the M.Eng. degree from UKM, Malaysia, in 2007, and M.Sc and PhD from the department of electrical and computer engineering, Purdue university, Indiana, USA in 2015 and 2018 respectively. My main research interests are in heterogeneous networks, radio resource management, vehicular communication, video streaming, distributed optimization, distributed machine learning in 5G networks and beyond

My research is geared towards the development of the theoretical and algorithmic principles of next generation wireless systems. Our research is interdisciplinary and centered around the use and marriage of several tools from distributed optimization,  machine learning, statistics, control and economics.  In particular, we are currently focusing on the following topics:

  • Ultra-reliable and low latency communication (URLLC)

  • Virtual reality, edge/fog computing

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)

  • 5G-V2X, smart cities

  • The Internet of Things.

  • Machine learning, AI for wireless and wirelss for AI

  • Video streaming
